Guild enjoys lazy days of summer
Summer…a time to take
life easy, enjoy having the children home from school, take that long awaited
trip to the beach or wherever, soak up the sun and start that flower
garden. Even writers take time off occasionally, and that explains
why Guild meetings in June and July have been on the light side thus far this
summer.
In recent weeks, Guild
members Joe Ingerick and Patrecia Gray have written about fathers in honor of
Father’s Day and flags in honor of Flag Day. Ilse Burris read “Why?”
the age-old question that is essential to a writer’s soul.
Marilyn Clarke has been
sharing a novel in progress tentatively titled “The Lunch Club”, about six
long-time friends, five of whom are going on a road trip together. Road
trips seem to be a common theme this summer, as Carol Newberry has read a short
story about two college friends who go on a road trip together, one of whom is
meeting her father for the first time.
Recently the Guild was
paid a visit by Max Price. Price is from Ravenswood and belongs to
the Writers Group in Ripley. It is always nice to meet other writers
and hear their stories and experiences with the writing process.
