Point Pleasant Writers Guild puts pen to paper
Don’t look now, but certain of the Point Pleasant Writers Guild members have it on the ball…book-wise and play-wise, that is. Marilyn Clarke is on Book Seven of her Frost Series. She continues to fill notebook after notebook with her stories. Another member has written a ten-minute play which will have been performed since the last meeting of the Guild. Other members have shown great talent for writing poetry, songs, short stories, and novellas.
Stringing words together which paint a picture or pluck a heart string or put a smile on someone’s face brings its own reward, as anyone who writes can tell you. Being published and reaching multiple readers is the icing on the cake. The worrisome “rejection letter” is also a reality for some of the Guild members, but no one loses heart…it’s all part of the process that almost every author experiences in the beginning.
Woody Moore is planning to speak to the Guild on the subject of song writing in the near future.
Local author, Mary Lee Powell-Pickard, has been invited to speak to the Guild on August 5. Powell-Pickard has written a book, “Circle Rainbows”, her personal memoirs of God’s presence in her life, beginning with her childhood on a small farm in the hills of West Virginia. More about her upcoming visit will be covered in future articles.
